PPB Mengadakan EWCAP Bagi Dosen
Pusat Pengembangan Bahasa IAIN Walisongo mengadakan EWCAP bagi dosen. Suatu kursus yang memfasilitasi para dosen yang akan menulis artikel jurnal internasional; EWCAP adalah kependekan dari English Writing Course for Academic Purposes.
Kursus yang diadakan oleh PPB kali ini diikuti oleh para pendaftar yang cukup banyak. Jumlah peserta lebih 70 orang, padahal ruang yang disediakan hanya tiga kelas, yang memuat perkelasnya 15 orang. Maka untuk dapatnya melaksanakan dengan intensip acara kursus, diselenggarakanlah pree test. Akhirnya terjaring dalam pree test dua kelompok peserta untuk mengikuti kursus bagian pertama (35 orang), dua kelompok lainnya mengikuti bagian yang kedua.
Peserta kursus EWCAP bagian A diikuti oleh 22 peserta yang sudah berpengalaman dalam aplikasi English. Sebagian peserta ada yang sudah pernah mengambil kuliah di luar negeri seperti ke salah satu negara bagian Australia. Sebagian lain, ada yang sudah pernah berangkat mengambil kursus singkat dua minggu tentang kependidikan di Australia. Di antara mereka ada juga profesor, yang sudah mengikuti visiting profesor ke Universitas Brisbance Australia dan Universitas Kebangsaan di Malaysia.
Target Kursus
Kursus EWCAP kali ini memasang target tidak muluk-muluk. Tercantum dalam pemberitahuan yang dibuat oleh panitia, bahwa dari kursus ini peserta diharapkan mampu membuat paragraf yang benar sesuai jurnal internasional dan mengem-bangkannya sesuai dengan bidang ilmu keahliannya.
Dari target ini maka tergambar di kepala peserta jika dari awal kegiatan yang dimulai pada hari Rabu, 7 Mei 2014 antara lain sudah dipatok materi, antara lain:
1- The Topic Sentences
2- The Supporting Sentences
3- The Concluding Sentence
4- The Major and The Minor
5- The Unity
6- The Coherence
7- Using Outside Source
8- Language Focus
Dengan memanfaatkan dua tenaga pengajar yang diambil dari dosen senor LIA, panitia dari PPB menginginkan peserta tidak rikuh pekewuh dalam belajar bersama.
Penulis berita ini, coba menemani para peserta doktor muda mengikuti kursus penulisan jurnal internasional English ini. Maksudnya sama, menjajagi kemungkinan banyak melek di bidang penulisan, yang tentu goal utamanya bukan hanya untuk jurnal, tetapi bisa jadi sampai ke pembuatan buku, dan juga bagi pengembangan web ini.
